Tyler Mallison
Interdisciplinary Artist
London
Tyler Alexander Mallison (b 1975 US) is a London-based British-American interdisciplinary artist. He holds an MA from Central Saint Martins and a BA from Northwestern University (USA). His practice explores contemporary, personal and formal interests, utilising diverse media to prompt questions about the status quo—its pace, conventions—in the context of individual identity, aspiration and collective desire. There is a marked emphasis on materiality, digital mediation and the expanded field of painting.
Last year he was featured as One to Watch (Basel, 2014) after being selected as one of the Hot-One-Hundred emerging UK artists in 2013. Recent shows include Pop Living, Schwartz Gallery London (2015), Shadow of my Former Self (solo), The Window Project Dalston, London (2014), Stars in My Eyes, Schwartz Gallery London; ACSA14, Autocenter Berlin; M29 with Yngve Holen, Autocenter Berlin. Recent jury selections include the 2014 WW Solo Award (Wilson Williamson Gallery, London); Discerning Eye London, Mall Galleries London (2014) and Celeste Prize, Milan (2014). He was also resident in Berlin during the summer of 2014 with leading independent contemporary art space Autocenter Berlin.
